Guidelines for Sponsored Registration for Civil Society Members & Individuals Working in Lung Health

The deadline for applying is 22 July by 23:59 CEST

Who is eligible to apply:

The Union is pleased to offer 100 sponsored registrations for The Union World Conference on Lung Health 2024 to civil society members, individuals involved in efforts to address lung health, and survivors of TB. Those who are presenting at the Community Connect programme will be given priority. Only individuals from low- and lower-middle-income countries (according to the World Bank classification) are invited to apply. Survivors of TB from all countries are invited to apply.

Please note: Travel to Bali and accommodation will not be supported by The Union.

Who will review the applications:

Applications for sponsored registration will be reviewed by The Union Community Advisory Panel (UCAP) and members of The Union’s Coordinating Committee of Scientific Activities (CCSA).

Minimum eligibility criteria:

Individuals from low- and lower-middle-income countries (according to the World Bank classification). Survivors of TB from all countries are invited to apply.

Application Process

By the stated deadline (22 July), candidates must complete the application and submit:

  1. A maximum of 500 words motivation letter, (formats accepted are PDF, .doc, and .docx or fill directly in the form) outlining the following:
    1. Why they want to participate in the Union Conference 2024.
    2. How their participation in the conference will benefit their organisation and/or community and/or their own personal/professional development.
  2. A support/recommendation letter from a manager, colleague, or peer (formats accepted are PDF, .doc, and .docx).

Applications are opened from: 24 June

Responsibilities of sponsored registration recipients:

  • Contact the host country’s embassy in your country to inquire about travel requirements for the conference and to make the necessary arrangements for securing the required visa.
  • Ensure to have a valid passport, which includes validity for at least six months after the return travel date and adequate number of pages for entering the country where the conference will be held.
  • Share feedback and experiences with The Union reviewing team in the post-conference report
  • Work with the Communications team to engage on social media during and after the conference (more details will be shared with successful applicants).

Guidelines for Scholarships for Presenters of Abstracts & Invited Symposia Speakers

The deadline for applying is 22 July by 23:59 CEST

 Who is eligible to apply:

The Union is pleased to offer a limited number of scholarships for The Union World Conference on Lung Health 2024 to presenters at the conference, including presenters of abstracts and invited symposia speakers. Only individuals from low- and lower-middle-income countries (according to the World Bank classification) who would be unable to attend the conference without financial assistance are eligible to apply. The scholarships are intended to support some of the costs associated with attending the conference, as follows:

  1. Presenters of abstracts and invited symposia speakers: May apply for support to cover some of their travel and participation expenses. This may include conference registration, hotel accommodation, and/or travel costs.
  2. Presenters of abstracts and invited symposia speakers who are researchers and hold a PhD or are currently enrolled in a PhD programme: May apply for full scholarships covering registration, accommodation, and travel expenses.

Who will review the applications:

The applications will be reviewed by members of The Union’s Coordinating Committee of Scientific Activities (CCSA), and The Union Department heads and teams.

Minimum eligibility criteria:

  • Individuals from low- and lower-middle-income countries (according to the World Bank classification).
  • Presenters at the Conference, specifically presenters of abstracts and invited symposia speakers.
  • When applying for a full scholarship, be a researcher and hold a PhD or be currently enrolled in a PhD programme.

Application Process

    1. Their current activities in lung health.
    2. Their contribution to the conference.
    3. Their plans for disseminating the knowledge you gain at the conference.
  2. A support/recommendation letter from a manager, colleague, or peer (formats accepted are PDF, .doc, and .docx).
  3. If applying for a full scholarship, a copy of their PhD certificate/diploma or a letter from their university confirming enrollment in a PhD programme.

Applications are open from: 24 June

Responsibilities of scholarship recipients:

  • Contact the host country’s embassy in your country to inquire about travel requirements for the conference and to make the necessary arrangements for securing the required visa.
  • Ensure to have a valid passport, which includes validity for at least six months after the return travel date and adequate number of pages for entering the country where the conference will be held.
  • Full scholarship recipients: Researchers selected will be required to submit a report to The Union before the 27th of November 2024.
  • Share feedback and experiences with The Union’s CCSA in the post-conference survey.
  • Work with the Communications team to engage on social media during and after the conference (more details will be shared with successful applicants).
